DYI: Best Mid Range Hotel in Surabaya
Hotel Kampi Surabaya from $34 a Night
This 3-star hotel was established in 2018. The rooms are very stylish compared to hotels in its class in Surabaya. Some guests say the breakfast is memorable, but others say it was ordinary (only one way to find out!). Overall, there is almost no negative feedback regarding the service or facilities of the hotel on either Agoda or Booking, which is rare for a mid-range hotel. I think this is most likely because it is owned by Santika Indonesia Hotels and Resorts. Hotel Kampi Surabaya is the best hotels in town for this price range.

Shangri-la from $110 a Night
Shangri-la Surabaya is in the centre of Surabaya. The outside of the hotel looks dated, with it’s Brutalist architecture. However, once you enter you feel right at home. The hotel was recently refurbished and the furnishings are modern. The hotel has an outdoor pool surrounded by palm trees and a lush tropical garden (you will forget that you are in the middle of the city!), three tennis courts a spa and wellness center, a gym and a sauna. Having stayed here I can say that the buffet breakfast is one of the highlights of the hotel. We recommend taking the Club Floor. It’s worth it for the complimentary food and wine in the evening.
