June is one of my favourite months of the year and I am in a unique place. At this moment, I am in Jayapura, Papua. It is is the capital of the province of Papua. I am so thrilled to be here and I want to share several pictures with you.

When I was about to land at Sentani, one of the districts in Jayapura regency, I was amazed by the beautiful bird-view of Sentani lake. Sentani lake, which is surrounded by 21 small islands, looks serene and charming.

Besides being famous for its beauty, Sentani Lake is also famous for a special festival. The Sentani lake festival is a celebration of local culture and a chance for tourists to meet local residents. If you visit the festival you can watch traditional dances and see local costumes. One of the highlights so far is Isolo. It is a dance performed on a boat. The dance is so much fun to see. The dancers have so much energy.

Lake Sentani Festival is one of the best times to see the diverse culture of Papua in one place and at one time. If you are thinking to explore Papua in the future, you should consider attending the festival. It is held annually in the middle of June. Here are several pictures from day one and day two of my second visit to Papua. Most of the pictures I took during the Sentani Lake Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Papua. Some of the pictures are of the unique landscape of Papua. Tons of adventures that often called off-the-beaten-track places await you on the island.
