The most common complaint from guests is the limited choice of food at breakfast, though there is a lot available if you have the appetite. In regards to value for money and service the Amarelo is probably the best budget hotel in Solo.

The Royal Surakarta Heritage Solo – MGallery by Sofitel from $38 a Night
Normally a hotel like the Royal Surakarta Heritage would not be listed as a mid-range hotel. The Royal Gallery Surakarta has the facilities of a luxury hotel. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city. The hotel facilities include an outdoor gym, business centre and a spa. Live performances are held at the bar and lounge. There is no consistent negative criticism from guests. While suites can be expensive you can book a room at the hotel from less than $40 a night making it extremely good value for money.

Alila Solo from $54 a Night
The Alila Solo is easily the best luxury hotel in the city. The location is five minutes away from Solo Square. The hotel has a spa, fitness centre, two restaurants and an outdoor pool. Rooms are spacious, the furnishings are modern and the beds are comfortable. There is almost no negative feedback regarding the hotel on Agoda, which attests to the great customer service.

The Rumah Turi Eco Boutique Hotel is a green oasis close to the centre of Solo. The hotel is built from sustainable materials with a nice garden, restaurant, meditation area and a library. Reviews by previous guests talk favourably about the homey atmosphere, compact rooms and friendly hotel staff. The only negative point is the location, a 20 minute walk to the centre of town. This is not a problem if you have your own transport.
Megaland Hotel Solo from $26 a Night
The Megaland is a new hotel close to the centre of Solo. The hotel is bright and airy with facilities including an outdoor pool and a spa. Reviews on Agoda highlight the cozy spacious rooms, comfortable bed and good breakfast at the restaurant. The swimming pool, while nice, is a little small. Overall one of the best hotels in Solo for this price range.
Aziza Syariah Hotel Solo by Horison from $27 a Night
There is a lot of positive feedback on Agoda about Aziza Syariah Hotel. It is conveniently located in the centre on the city. You can walk to the train station and there are plenty of dining options close by. The hotel also offers a concierge services and a one-way complimentary airport transfer. It is however a Syariah hotel, which means that you will hear the call to prayer at 4 am, which is not good if you are a light sleeper. Overall for location, feedback and price the Azizah Syariah is one of the best budget hotels in Solo.
Rumah Batu Villa & Spa from $37 a Night
Rumah Batu Villa & Spa is a boutique style hotel that mixes modern design with traditional Javanese decor. Recycled wood is used throughout the property, which gives the hotel a welcoming ambience. The hotel has an outdoor pool a library and a restaurant. Guests compliment the beautiful architecture, spacious clean rooms and friendly staff. The massages at the spa also come highly recommended.
Aston Solo Hotel from $38 a Night
The Aston Solo is in the heart of the Solo Central Business District. It’s a modern 5-star hotel. Facilities include an outdoor pool, meeting and banquet halls, business center and a children’s playground. While the hotel has a great rating feedback on Agoda is mixed. Plus points include the fast Wi-Fi and comfortable beds, but many guests believe the service could be improved. Given the choice we’d recommend the Alila Solo over Aston.

The heritage resort is on the edge of Solo, surrounded by rice paddy fields. The resort has several beautifully designed traditional Javanese Joglo style villas. Villas are outfitted with modern furnishings and there’s a mini patio outside ever room. The resort has a pool and garden with a spa. Reviewers rate the hotel as an affordable hotel choice and rave about the friendly staff and beautiful clean villas. It’s one of the best hotels in Surakarta for its price range.
The Alana Hotel & Convention Center Solo from $44 a Night
The Alana Hotel and Convention is a very affordable 4 Star Hotel in Solo. The hotel has three pools, spa, restaurant and fitness centre. The location is conveniently close to the airport. Guests rave about the affordable price, friendly staff and clean modern rooms. The only downside is that the hotel is a bit outside of town. Overall though this is one of the best hotels in Solo in terms of value for money and facilities on offer.
