Watch out for these new kids on the block! Adhisthana Hotel is located on Prawirotaman 2 and is one of the cutest hotels that I have seen in Yogyakarta. They currently have 13 rooms available. With both dorms and private rooms this is a great place for couples and young travellers looking for budget friendly accommodation in a beautiful setting.
The Rooms
So why did I say that the Adhisthana Hotel is so cute? Those who love vintage wooden touches, batik, blue and white colors and simplicity would definitely get me. The interior is so easy to fall in love with! Just walking through the lobby to the living room it somehow feels like home. Each room is equipped with an ensuite shower (hot and cold water) and toilet, air-conditioner and a white linen bed. Most of the rooms are decorated in Batik, with blue and white being the dominant colors.
The Studio Suites all have a floor area of 20 square meters. They include a seating area with sofa, chair and table. Each room has a double bed (king size) decorated in custom batik. The Studio Suites are equipped with a dressing table and ensuite bathroom with hot cold-water. The rooms have a 32′ LED TV with access to international channels and fast wi-fi.
The Superior Rooms are each around 15 square meters. The rooms have a queen sized bed and are decorated in batik. Each Superior Room has a dressing table, en suite bathroom with hot cold and water shower and air conditioning. The rooms have a 32” LED TV with access to international channels and fast wi-fi.
The twin rooms feature two single beds decorated in batik. The rooms have an ensuite bathroom with hot and cold-water. Each Twin Room has a 32” LED TV with access to international channels and fast wi-fi.
There are two dorm rooms; one for males (there are eight beds in the dorm) and one for females (there are six beds in the dorm). Both dorms have wooden bunk beds with (of course) white linen, storage for every person and an ensuite shower (hot & cold water) with toilet. The great thing about the dorm rooms are that they have direct access to the living room. They also have fast wi-fi

The Facilities
The Adhisthana Hotel has a swimming pool, a living room area and a large dining room. The design of the hotel is spacious and area with lots of natural light. A lot of care and attention has gone into the interior design of the Adhisthana Hotel. A simple colour scheme of blue and white with unfinished wooden furniture has been used throughout the hotel with whitewashed walls and simple batik decoration. The result is a classic style with a modern twist that makes visitors feel immediately welcome.
Lawas cafe is a part of Adhisthana Hotel and is one of my new favorite cafes. It is located next (or you can say it is attached) to the hotel. I love Lawas cafe for the tasty coffee and lovely appearance and vibe of the cafe. They also do food, so you can grab a bite to eat at the cafe. Oh, and on Thursday’s they do discounts on the food based on your age. It’s a great way to celebrate the fact that we are all getting older every day 🙂
Word of advice: If you want to sit upstairs, better go there during the evening or night because it is pretty hot during the day. If you fancy a coffee during the day, sit downstairs and enjoy people watching. It was fun!
The Location
The location is ideal, but my first impressions of Prawirotaman 2 weren’t that great. As you enter the street there is a large traditional market and the street appears cluttered and small with lots of old buildings. However, around 30 meters down the street things start to change and all of a sudden everything becomes more inviting. Prawirotonan 2 becomes a mix of modern and traditional.
One thing to let you know that there might be light noise during the day. However this shouldn’t be too much noise and there are more important things to do during the day (like exploring the city) visiting some of the great tourist destinations in the city (feel free to check out some of the great tours of Yogyakarta if you need ideas for things to do in the city).
Final Thoughts
Adhisthana Hotel is located close to the main tourist street Jalan Prawirotaman. The decoration for the hotel is very attractive. I like the mix of white and blue. The rooms are also large and spacious. To top it all off, it’s a convenient location and given that there’s a cafe attached to the hotel it’s very easy to find food.
In terms of location, and just for the cuteness of the design, Adhisthana is a real winner. Adhisthana is a five minutes drive from the Royal Palace area (where the water palace is located), a 10-15 minutes drive to Malioboro area and very close to the Prawirotaman traditional market, which though old is nice to check out! Overall it is a great place if you really want to see the local life.
I’d definitely recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Yogyakarta. If you’re interested in making a booking through Agoda click through on the link below. This is an affiliate link and I will make a small commission, but it won’t cost you anything.

Hi Mbak Tresna, Salam kenal 🙂
Adhisthana sama Gallery Prawirotaman Hotel sama bagusnya.
