The Important Facts
It’s a 90 minute drive from Yogyakarta to the Goa Jomblang resort (here’s the location on Google maps). The last part of the trip is along a bumpy road, so make sure your car has high ground clearance. The caving normally starts around 10 am and the tour is finished by noon (there are no tours in the afternoon. It only runs in the morning, because this is when you get the best light).
A maximum of 75 Goa Jomblang tickets are issued each day. It sounds a lot, but it’s really not with the number of people who want to visit. You’ll want to arrive at the resort before 9:30, which means leaving Yogyakarta around 8 am. We recommend leaving a bit earlier, say around 7:30 am. I know, it’s an early start, but it’s worth it as you’ll need to register when you arrive to confirm your ticket.
You’ll all go down to the caves together, but if you’re in one of the first groups down you should be in the first group going up. It means less waiting around (both when you go down and getting back up). You’ll spend about 2 hours in Goa Jomblang caves before returning to the surface.
That’s it. Gua Jomblang is one of the tourism highlights of Yogyakarta. Just fill in the form below to order your tickets.
