Lombok’s charm rests upon the fact that it’s still mostly untouched. It is far more relaxed than the party island of Bali. The beaches here, especially in the South, are beautiful. There are plenty of waterfalls you can trek to and swim in, the imposing Rinjani Volcano to conquer and the three Gili Islands where you can let your hair down.

To help you find your feet on the island we made a list of the best hotels on Lombok. It took a few hours, but we’ve hunted for the best choices for every budget (though we excluded hotels on the GIli Islands). You can find our three favorite hotels below. Let’s get started.

We’ve provided the starting price for each hotel for guidance, but it might be different for your travel date.

DYI Best Budget Hotel in Lombok

Dream Catcher Camp from $11 a Night

Dream Catcher Camp is our pick for the best budget hotel in Lombok. The homestay is in Tetebatu in the shadow of Mount Rinjani. Sam, the host, is very friendly and accommodating (almost every reviewer mentions him). The food is delicious and the setting makes you feel like your living in a small village in Indonesia. And you are… The only two problems with Dream Catcher are that it’s in the highlands (not ideal if you are looking for a beach holiday) and the Wi-Fi is patchy.

DYI Best Mid Range Hotel in Lombok

best hotel in lombok near senggigi

Ibludan Hotel from $42 a Night

The Ibludan Hotel is our pick for the best mid-range hotel in Lombok. It’s in Sengiggi to the North of Lombok. The hotel has a nice open plan layout with a large swimming pool. Rooms are tastefully decorated (some of the rooms have a kitchen, just in case you want to cook). Guests compliment the great staff that make you feel at home, the rooms that are spotlessly clean (one reviewer went as far as saying “you could eat off the floor,” though we don’t advise it) and the delicious food. Highly recommended.

DYI Best Luxury Hotel in Lombok

Hotel Tugu Lombok from $232 a Night

Tugu is one of my favorite hotel chains in Indonesia. The hotel in Lombok is amazing (though it does feel like you’re heading the wrong way as you drive down the dirt track that leads to the hotel). It feels like you are walking through a museum when you visit. The property is decorated with beautiful antique furniture. There are so many good things to say about the hotel. It is probably one of my favorite hotels in Indonesia. As one guest said, “the atmosphere is luxurious without being pretentious”.

Let’s get started with the best budget hotels in Lombok.

Recommended Budget Hotels in Lombok

Ike’s Hostel from $10 a Night

Ike’s Hostel in Kuta, Lombok is one of our favorite budget hotels on the island. It’s a great place for backpackers and an easy place to meet fellow travellers. Reviews on Agoda highlight the friendly and accommodating staff and the delicious banana pancakes. Unfortunately the hotel is a bit out of the way (you’ll need a moped to get there), the wi-fi is hit and miss and the water from the shower is cold. Overall good value for money and a nice place to stay if you’re looking for a budget hotel in Lombok.

Maharani Homestay from $11 a Night

There are a lot of great budget hotels in Lombok to choose from. We almost chose Maharani Homestay as our favorite choice, because we prefer the beach over the highlands, but the service at Dream Catchers is better and that’s what we’re rating. Maharani Homestay is new, very good value for money and they serve a delicious breakfast (which is included in the price of the accommodation). The staff is also really friendly. Word of warning, the rooms do not have air conditioning and it gets hot.

Pipes Hostel Kuta from $13 a Night

Pipes Hostel Kuta is a modern funky backpackers homestay in Lombok. The hostel is on the edge of town and has two mixed room dormitories. Pipes Hostel is busy with friendly staff, making it a great place to meet fellow travellers. The highlight of the hostel is the skate park out the back. Guests like the chilled out atmosphere, friendly staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Highly recommended for young backpackers looking for a good time.

Aurora Cottages from $24 a Night

Aurora Cottages are a budget friendly hotel in Sengiggi that are well known for the great customer service. The bungalows are spacious and basically furnished. Rooms are clean and the hotel, once you have found it, is conveniently located close to bars and restaurants. Unfortunately the hotel is quite hard to find and there is a mosque nearby, which can be a problem if you’re a light sleeper. Overall Aurora Cottages are a good choice if you are looking for something that offers a bit more than a backpacker hostel.

Recommended Mid-Range Hotels in Lombok

Pondok Anggrek Putih from $48 a Night

Pondok Anggrek Putih is one of the best mid-range hotels in Sengiggi. The hotel is set in large grounds with a beautiful garden, two gazebos and a large swimming pool. The hotel is open planned. Rooms are large, spacious and tastefully decorated. Previous guests compliment the chef for the great food and the comfortable stay. Definitely recommended for honeymooners or couples who want a quiet place to stay. The only critical feedback is the breakfast is a bit small and the location is very quiet.

lombok hotel

Silver Fern Beach Retreat from $50 a Night

Silver Fern Beach Retreat is in the Sekotong island chain. As the name suggests the hotel, which has its own pool, overlooks the ocean. The hotel looks modern, and not very Indonesian, with spacious air-conditioned rooms. Guests compliment the friendly staff, nice hosts and relaxing atmosphere. The food at the restaurant is tasty, but the restaurant is a little expensive. Highly recommended if you just want to get away from it all for a few days.

Lombok Hill Wiolett from $63 a Night

My favorite thing about Kuta is the views that you get from the hills overlooking the town. This is something that you will experience when you stay at Lombok Hill Wiolett. Previous guests at the hotel rate it as one of the best places to stay around Kuta. The food is delicious, the hosts, Wiolett and Paul, are very friendly and the setting is beautiful. On the downside the wi-fi connection is not very good. Overall the hotel offers great service. It is one of the best private hotels in Lombok.

Puri Mas Senggigi

Puri Mas Boutique Resort & Spa from $69 a Night

Set next to the beach with an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, Puri Mas Boutique Villa and Spa is one of the best mid-range hotels in Lombok. The hotel is relatively small with 39 beautifully furnished rooms and villas. Reviews on Agoda compliment the beautiful setting of the hotel, surrounded by a lush forest and gardens, and the attentive staff. Unfortunately it’s very difficult to swim in the ocean, because of the shallow reefs. Overall a great choice if you are looking for a place to stay in Lombok.

Recommended Luxury Hotels in Lombok

Katamaran lombok

Katamaran Resort from $168 a Night

The Katamaran Resort is a top choice if you’re looking for a 5 star hotel in Lombok. Located in Sengiggi, the hotel has an open plan design with a great beachside swimming pool with wooden decking where you can relax on a sun lounger. Rooms at the hotel are all new and nicely furnished. Guests compliment the friendly staff and the beautiful setting. The hotel has some funny check in requirements though, including the fact you need to pay an Rp 250,000 a day security in case you break anything. Food and drinks at the resort are also expensive.

Sudamala Suites and Villas from $170 a Night

The Sudamala Suites and Villas in Sengiggi is a luxury beachside retreat. The resort has an outdoor pool, bar, restaurant and spa. Rooms at the resort range from suites through to private villas. Guests compliment the great service, delicious food and the relaxing setting. One downside is that there is no gym, something that many would expect from a 5 star resort.

The Pool Villas Club Lombok is in the heart of Sengiggi, abutting the beach. Set in a huge garden with a large pool you feel cocooned from the outside world (perfect feeling when you just want to recharge your batteries). Reviews on Agoda highlight the great service and beautiful setting. The complimentary afternoon tea and cakes are also appreciated. On the down side some guests complain about mosquitoes, which can keep you up at night.

The Oberoi Lombok from $252 a Night

The Oberoi Lombok is one of the best hotels in Lombok. The resort has an outdoor pool, a gym, a spa, a tennis court, and all rooms and watersports can be arranged from the Oberoi Beach Club. Guests compliment the beautiful location, cleanliness of the rooms and the staff. The food at the restaurant is a bit expensive and there is not much to do around the hotel, but if you’re looking for a relaxing beachside holiday then the Oberoi Lombok is perfect for your needs.

Special Mention – The Lombok Lodge from $591 a Night

The Lombok Lodge is probably the best hotel in Lombok with a price tag to boot. The hotel is small with just 9 rooms and suites set in beautiful grounds. All the lodges have sea views and open-air baths, there’s an outdoor pool, a spa, a gym, and private yoga lessons over the wooden deck by the sea. Service is exceptional and the food is delicious.
