[su_note]Last Minute Booking: If you want to do the Cycling Tour tomorrow and it’s after 3 pm we can’t help. Please make other travel arrangements or you can book for the following day.[/su_note]

Sorry to scare you like that…

That message was just for people booking last minute 🙂 What I meant to say is, thanks for ordering through Discover Your Indonesia. Your email is flying through cyberspace and will arrive in our inbox shortly. We’ve sent you an automated response about our community cycle tour. By the time you’ve finished reading this it will be in your inbox.

Sometimes the automated email we send you will look a bit funny. If that happened to you we’re sorry. It’s an issue with the auto-responder. Our computer technician explained the problem, but our eyes glazed over. Then he told us it was the electronic fairies. This makes sense. We’re working on removing them from our computers.

Here’s what’s going to happen next:

Within the next 12 hours (our average response time on weekdays is within 2 hours) one of our team will send you an email confirming the tour. To do this we need these three things, which we already asked from you:

  1. The name of your hotel.
  2. The day you want to do the cycle tour.
  3. The number of participants.

If you haven’t given us this information already it’s ok.

You can send us a follow up email with the missing details by just clicking on the link here. We have some hotel suggestions further down if you want them. Just in case you missed it you can find the price for the tour in the table below.

Number Of People Cost Of Bicycle Tour Cost of Bicycle Tour + Batik Workshop
1 Rp 300,000  Rp 500,000*
2 Rp 500,000 Rp 900,000
3** Rp 600,000 Rp 1,200,000
4 Rp 850,000 Rp 1,650,000
5 Rp 1,100,000 Rp 2,100,000
6*** Rp 1,200,000 Rp 2,400,000

Price for batik workshop is Rp 200,000 when booked with bicycle tour. Usual Price Rp 250,000.    ** Rp 150,000 provided to cover taxi fees.    *** Rp 300,000 provided to cover taxi fees.

Once we’ve answered your questions we will provide you with the contact details for the tour guide. If you have up to two participants in your group we will give you the pickup time. If your group has 3 or more participants we will give you the address for the meeting point that you can give to the taxi driver. You can make the payment to the guide who will lead your cycle tour when you meet him. That’s it.

Super simple.

Before I get into some of the most frequently asked questions (did you know FAQ stands for Foire Aux Questions in French. Now you do) I’d like to share some useful resources with you.

[su_box title=”Important Things You’ll Want to Know”]

Best Part Of the city: The South without a doubt. This is where the nice cafes, delicious restaurants and art scene is. I’d recommend it over every other part of the city.

Best Hotels: To help you choose where to stay I shortlisted my three favourite hotels in Yogya. For budget travel try Kampoeng Djawa. If you like a bit of luxury try Greenhost Boutique Hotel. And finally for luxury travel I recommend The Phoenix Hotel. I’ll give you the link again later, so stick with me until the end.

Best Restaurants: There’s a lot of great places in Yogya for food. If you want Indonesian food try the street stalls. Try Gudeg Pawon (horrible queues, but delicious food), Gudeg Permata and Warung Handayani (Alkid). For European food visit Mediterranea and Nanamia Pizzeria. All these places are around the South.[/su_box]

Ok. That’s the friendly advice sorted. So let’s cover the Foire Aux Questions quickly 😉 I’m going to highlight this section in yellow. These are the most common questions we receive.

Frequently Asked Questions

[su_note]Do I need to be fit to do the cycle tour: No. The bike ride is really relaxed. You don’t need to be fit.[/su_note]

[su_note]What if I can’t ride a bicycle: I’m afraid you can’t join the cycle tour if you don’t know how to ride a bike.[/su_note]

[su_note]And if I’m a solo traveller, can I join another group: Yes if another group is doing the bicycle tour on your travel date. If there’s nobody doing the tour on the day you’ll need to pay for Rp 500,000 for the bicycle tour.[/su_note]

[su_note]When should I pay: You can pay the guide when you meet him on the day of the tour.[/su_note]

[su_note]So the tour… What time do we get picked up: If you’re doing the sunrise bicycle tour the pickup time from your hotel is 6 am. For the afternoon tour the pickup time will be around 1:30 pm.[/su_note]

[su_note]Can we start later: Yes you can, but we don’t recommend it. You see it gets hot very quickly when the sun rises. It’s nicer to ride when the weather is cool in the early morning.[/su_note]

[su_note]How do I get picked up: If there are just two of you we will either pick you up by motorcycle or we will offer a reduction of Rp 100,000 towards the cost of the taxi. For 3 or more participants we offer a reduction of Rp 150,000 per vehicle to cover transport costs.[/su_note]

[su_note]What should I wear for the cycle tour: We recommend wearing t-shirt and shorts. You can bring a spare pair of clothes to get changed into for after the bike ride if you want.[/su_note]

[su_note]What’s Included in the cost of the tour: Depending on how many people in your group we’ll either pick you up from your hotel and drop you off or cover your taxi fare. For the cycle ride you’ll get the bike, a bottle of water and breakfast. You can also have as much coffee and tea as you want.[/su_note]

[su_note]Are there additional costs: No. There are no additional costs.[/su_note]

[su_note]I was planning to do the bicycle tour and Batik Workshop: Great![/su_note]

[su_note]What will the itinerary be like: Well if you are doing the sunrise bicycle tour you’ll do the batik workshop afterwards. The workshop lasts about 2 hours, so you will get dropped off back at your hotel around lunchtime. If you are doing the community bicycle tour in the afternoon you’ll do the workshop before hand. So you’ll get picked up around 11 am from your hotel and get back between 5-6 in the evening.[/su_note]

[su_note]And what will the weather be like: From October to January it’s raining season. In the wet season it normally rains in the morning and is dry in the afternoon. If you want to know the weather for your travel date we suggest you Google “Weather+Yogya+Your Travel Date”. That’s what we always do.[/su_note]

[su_note]But what happens if it’s raining: We hope it’s a nice day for your tour, but we can’t control the weather (we tried, but it started raining heavily in Brazil and so now we’re banned). You should be fine though as it almost never rains in the morning.[/su_note]

[su_note]Anything else I should know: Think that’s it. If you have any more questions just let us know.[/su_note]

That’s it. I hope we’ve managed to answer your questions about our Community Bicycle Tour. We’ll be sending you that confirmation email soon so keep an eye out for it in your inbox.
