[su_note]Last Minute Booking: If you want to do 3 Day 2 Night East Java Tour a week before the tour we can’t help. Please make other travel arrangements! I’m sure you will find someone to take you.[/su_note]

Sorry to scare you like that…

That message was just for people booking last minute 🙂 What I meant to say is, thanks for ordering through Discover Your Indonesia. Your email is flying through cyberspace and will arrive in our inbox shortly. We’ve sent you an automated response about the 3 Day 2 Night East Java Tour. By the time you’ve finished reading this it will be in your inbox.

Sometimes the automated email we send you will look a bit funny. If that happened to you we’re sorry. It’s an issue with the auto-responder. Our computer technician explained the problem, but our eyes glazed over. Then he told us it was the electronic fairies. This makes sense. We’re working on removing them from our computers.

Here’s what’s going to happen next:

Within the next 12 hours (our average response time on weekdays is within 5 hours) one of our team will send you an email confirming the tour. To do this we need these two things, which we already asked from you:

  1. Your travel date.
  2. The number of participants.

If you haven’t given us this information already it’s ok.

You can send us a follow up email with the missing details by just clicking on the link here. We have some hotel suggestions further down if you want them. You can find the price for the package in the table below.

Number Of Participants* Cost of Package
1 Rp 6,000,000
2 Rp 6,800,000
3 Rp 8,700,000
4 Rp 9,350,000
5 Rp 12,300,000*
6 Rp 12,900,000

*Cost covers additional room for the accommodation and upgrade to Innova or similar.

If your group has more than 6 people that’s not a problem. We can arrange minivans. For really large groups we’ll even get a bus for you. We’ll provide you with the custom price in our first email to you.

Once we’ve answered your questions we are ready to secure your order. To do this we ask for a 40% deposit. I’ll cover the payment terms in a bit more depth in the FAQ section below. Two days before the tour we’ll give you the name and phone number of your driver. You’ll pay the outstanding 60% balance to the driver in cash at the start of the tour. That’s it.

Super simple.

Before I get into some of the most frequently asked questions (did you know FAQ stands for Foire Aux Questions in French. Now you do) I’d like to share some useful resources with you for Malang and Surabaya (the usual start points for the tour).

[su_box title=”Important Things You’ll Want to Know”]Best Hotels in Malang: If you’re looking for a nice hotel in Surabaya I recommend one of the following: for mid-range accommodation try Atria Hotel Malang. For luxury hotels we recommend Tugu Hotel Malang (rated one of the best luxury hotels in the world).

Best Hotels in Surabaya: There are more hotels to choose from in Surabaya. If you want a good mid-range hotel try Harris Hotel & Convention Guebeng. For luxury we recommend the boutique Hotel Majapahit. I’ll give you the link again later, so stick with me until the end.[/su_box]

Ok. That’s the friendly advice sorted. So let’s cover the Foire Aux Questions quickly 😉 I’m going to highlight this section in yellow. These are the most common questions we receive.

Frequently Asked Questions

[su_note]I’m a solo traveller, can I join another group: No. It will be just you and your driver on this package, but if you find people who want to join you and share the cost of your trip we’re fine with that.[/su_note]

[su_note]You mentioned the deposit earlier: We request a deposit so that we can make all of your holiday arrangements for you.[/su_note]

[su_note]Do I really need to pay the deposit: Yes. You see in the past one or two of our guests cancelled on the day of the tour without telling us (we know you wouldn’t). Our drivers didn’t get paid and we felt guilty. It was bad. It’s why the little angel on our shoulder suggested we ask for a 40% deposit.[/su_note]

[su_note]But how can I trust your company: We use Paypal for business. This offers you security as the customer while we know you are serious about visiting East Java (you can still make a cancellation as long as you inform us first).[/su_note]

[su_note]Ok. You convinced me. How do I pay: This is really simple, but a bit complicated. Which version do you want first?[/su_note]

[su_note]The simple please: We send you a Paypal invoice for 40% of the total cost of the tour. You can make the payment by credit/ debit card or from your Paypal account.[/su_note]

[su_note]So why did you say it was complicated: Paypal doesn’t accept payment in Rupiah. We normally make the invoice in USD/SGD/EUR or GBP. The invoice includes the 4% Paypal transaction fee. When you’ve made the payment we transfer it into Rupiah in our account. We confirm the amount we received using screenshots.[/su_note]

[su_note]That is complicated: Yes. On the plus side we’ve become very good at maths and tracking currency changes. We can also add a 4% fee onto almost any bill.[/su_note]

[su_note]So the tour… Can we adapt the itinerary: Sure. We’d be happy to create a customised itinerary for you if you ask us to.[/su_note]

[su_note]Is our driver like a tour guide: Your driver will know a lot of things about East Java and the places you visit, but he is not a tour guide. You’ll have a guide when you visit Madakaripura Waterfall and Ijen Volcano. You won’t have a guide for Bromo Volcano (but you don’t really need a guide either).[/su_note]

[su_note]How good is the drivers English: Your driver will be able to speak basic conversational English. He can not speak English super fluently.[/su_note]

[su_note]What’s Included in the Package: Everything. Well almost everything. The cost of the tour covers the transport, gas and parking with a driver who speaks basic English. Entrance to Bromo National Park, Madakaripura Waterfall and Ijen Volcano. Accommodation and jeep rental costs are also covered in the tour. The only thing that is not included in the price are meals.[/su_note]

[su_note]Is food included in the cost of the package: No. Meals are not included in the cost of the package. Though breakfast is included.[/su_note]

[su_note]Where can we be dropped off: We can arrange drop off by the port in Banyuwangi (Ketapang Port). We can also drop you off in Surabaya, Probolinggo and Malang.[/su_note]

[su_note]Do you offer transfer to Bali: Yes. We can offer transfer to Bali (area: Amed/Ubud/Legian/Seminyak/Sanur/Canggu). The car transfer to Bali costs an additional Rp 1,000,000 (for an Avanza).[/su_note]

[su_note]And what will the weather be like: From October to January it’s raining season. In the wet season it normally rains in the morning and is dry in the afternoon. If you want to know the weather for your travel date we suggest you Google “Weather+East Java+Your Travel Date”. That’s what we always do.[/su_note]

[su_note]But what happens if it’s raining: We hope it’s a nice day for your trip, but we can’t control the weather (we tried, but it started raining heavily in Brazil and so now we’re banned). If it starts to rain you might have to delay your activities or your driver will suggest an alternative.[/su_note]

[su_note]Is Bromo an active Volcano: Yes. Bromo is a very active volcano. We do monitor the activity level of the volcano. If it’s dangerous we’ll send you an email to warn you and ask if you want to change the date of your tour or you can still enjoy Bromo from safe distance.[/su_note]

[su_note]If Bromo is active can I climb the volcano: No. If Bromo is active you can not climb to the top of the volcano. It’s just too dangerous. You can still see the volcano and the valley from the viewpoint though.[/su_note]

[su_note]Do we have to bring anything special for the trip: You’ll be doing a lot of early morning activities so you’ll need warm clothes. We recommend bringing a few layers. Also bring a scarf or something to cover your face for when you enter Ijen as the smell of the sulphur can be really strong (our drivers have mask in their car which you can borrow).[/su_note]

[su_note]And tipping the driver: This is completely optional. If you’re happy with his service you can give a tip, but don’t feel obliged to do so. Usually it is around USD 2-5 per day.[/su_note]

That’s it. I hope we’ve managed to answer your questions about the 3 Day 2 Night East Java Package. We’ll be sending you that confirmation email soon so keep an eye out for it in your inbox.
