Bandung is a popular weekend getaway for locals, especially people who live in Jakarta. On the weekend, the traffic in Bandung can be unbearable. Even during the week, it is heavy. Based on this, it is really important, in my opinion, to pick a hotel close to the places that you would like to visit while you are visiting Bandung.

I spent a fair amount of time researching hotels to stay in Bandung the last time I visited. I want to share this list to help you decide where to stay. Before we go to the list, I deliberately did not include the big chain hotels such as Sheraton, Hilton, Ibis, etc.

Let’s say the list below is more toward the boutique hotels in Bandung that you should try. Shall we? The list below isn’t in a particular order, but the first one is my current favorite. We’ve provided price for guidance, but the price might not reflect what is shown to you for your travel date. Scroll through the images to preview the rooms and facilities.

best place to stay in bandung

Tama Boutique Hotel from US$36 a Night

I’ve been eyeing to stay at this hotel for a while. I spent two nights there, and it is now my current favorite hotel in Bandung. Friendly staff, spacious, and cozy rooms.

Tama Boutique Hotel has a strategic location close to many of Bandung’s most visited areas, such as the Riau street area (you can find a lot of shopping and eating opportunities there). This hotel also has an exotic Korean-style interior design.

They serve more than eight types of à la carte breakfast. Five were Korean options (I love it!). On top of this, there’s a popular Korean restaurant Bornga on the ground floor beneath the hotel.

hotel recommendations bandung

Chara Hotel Bandung from US$19 a Night

The hotel has a unique container design with attractive furniture dominated by teak wood. The staff is friendly, and the hotel is located in the center of Bandung, around 15-20 minutes walk to Alun-Alun Kota Bandung (Bandung Town Square).

The rooms at Chara Hotel Bandung have a minimalist concept and are equipped with warm thick fluffy carpets. Unfortunately, maybe due to using containers as rooms, some guests complain that they can hear the sound of people walking upstairs.

hotel near airport bandung

Triple Seven Bed & Breakfast from US$15 a Night

Triple Seven Bed & Breakfast has a retro concept and unique interior decor. The rooms are not spacious; however, they are comfortable.

The hotel has no lift, so if you bring a big suitcase, it is better to choose a room on the lower floor. This budget hotel has a strategic location because it is close to malls, airport, and one of Bandung’s culinary centers.

cottonwood bandung

Cottonwood Bed & Breakfast House Bandung from US$22 a Night

Cottonwood Bed & Breakfast House Bandung is a small-sized hotel with only nine rooms (the type of accommodation I like). Each room has a different interior theme and design. The hotel is a perfect budget hotel option in Bandung. Each unit is equipped with a refrigerator and a coffee machine. They provide an Irish and English menu for breakfast.

Please remember that smoking is only allowed in certain areas, or you will get fined. There is no wardrobe (there is a simple shelf), and some rooms don’t have clothes hangers and mirrors. The friendly staff is always on hand to help if you need anything, they can also suggest interesting places to visit near the hotel. Their rooms are a reasonable size and attractively designed. Simple but very cozy.

Kollektiv Bandung is one of the most hyped hotels in Bandung. Similar to Chara Hotel, Kollektiv also build from a re-designed truck container. Tebu Hotel from US$29 a Night

Tebu Hotel is a budget hotel in the city center. It is easily accessible. They provide drinks made from sugar cane. Their rooms are spacious enough for a budget hotel with a view of the city of Bandung. They have a wardrobe, hangers, coffee, tea, and a safe in the room.

The hotel is in a strategic location. It’s 3 minutes to Dago and close to many famous landmarks in Bandung. Though you might include breakfast in your stay, you should consider walking to Mom’s Artisan Bakery (it is only 350 meters away; 4 minutes walk) for breakfast where you can build your sandwich. I recommend the smoked salmon with a croissant.

hotel near ITB bandung

Beehive Cafe & Boutique Hotel from US$35 a Night

Beehive Cafe & Boutique Hotel is close to ITB (Bandung Institute of Agriculture). It is one of the most popular universities in Indonesia. You can access the Forest Walk Babakan Siliwangi, where you can have a relaxing 2 km walk in the forest.

The rooms are spacious with minimalist interior design. Beehive Boutique Hotel has several types of room designs. I would recommend choosing to stay at one of their lofts, so you have a big window for the part of the “roof.” It is nice to look at during sunset time or in the morning.

The hotel has a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. The lobby area is attractive. There’s a cafe attached to the hotel and plenty of instagrammable spots. The cafe has tasty food.

hotel near train station bandung

Summerbird Bed and Brasserie from US$36 a Night

Summerbird Bed and Brasserie is also one of my favorite hotels. The lobby and the restaurants’ areas are nice. Their rooms are classified into four different styles: French, Vintage, Rustic, and Scandinavian. I like the Rustic and Scandinavian style.

Even though their standard room is not spacious, it feels homey. The hotel is in the city center. You can find markets, hospitals, and restaurants nearby. It is a 10-15 minutes walk to Bandung Train Station.

hotel in dago bandung

The Silk Dago Hotel from US$22 a Night

The Silk Dago Hotel is one of the best boutique hotels in Bandung. They have wooden floors, colorful walls, artsy hotel interiors with lots of artwork and paintings on the walls, and old-style chairs made of wood and rattan. They also have a unique place for breakfast, which is on the rooftop.

Some reviewers on Agoda said that this hotel was a bit dirty and disappointing. Their elevator is small and can only accommodate three people. It would be better to get a room downstairs. If you want to explore the Dago area, this hotel has a strategic location. It is a 15-minute drive to the Dago Pakar.

hotel close to Lembang Bandung

Blackbird Hotel from US$36 a Night

Staying at Blackbird Hotel is outside the center of Bandung. It is the right hotel to stay if you are interested in visiting the Lembang area, instead of the city center of Bandung.

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool. The rooms have a minimalist design but are still beautiful and fresh with indoor plants. Lots of their guests love the hotels clean and cozy rooms and spacious parking area.

Moxy Hotel Bandung has a modern minimalist concept. It is a mid-range hotel that offers value for money. Their rooms are quite simple. On one side, the walls are unfinished. They have a beanbag instead of a regular chair.

MOXY Bandung offers ironing services and business facilities such as faxes and a photocopy machine. Besides that, the hotel is equipped with a library and a gym. U Janevalla Bandung from US$69 a Night

U Javenalla is an excellent hotel for a fair price. The hotel has an infinity pool on the rooftop with spectacular views of the city day and night (you can sometimes spot planes passing!). The other hotel facility praised by their guests is the library.

The rooms have a chic industrial design dominated by white, light grey, and lime green. They offer superb amenities (especially their choice of fragrant soaps). Their staff is helpful and friendly, and their breakfast is outstanding. It has a very strategic location close to many popular spots in Bandung, including Braga City Walk, and some famous factory outlets.

de Braga by Artotel from US$74 a Night

Artotel is a group who support the art scene in Indonesia by featuring original artwork by uprising Indonesian contemporary artist at their property. The monochrome-themed hotel has a small art gallery in the hotel that displays typical Indonesian works.

The hotel is close to the historical center of Bandung with many tourist attractions. The hotel offers a nice view of the city, an outdoor swimming pool, and provides a nice ambiance. I like the fact they support the environmental love movement by minimizing the use of plastic straws.

luxury resort in bandung

Padma Hotel from US$158 a Night

Padma Hotel is one of the most popular luxury hotels in Bandung. The hotel offers excellent views and is surrounded by trees, which creates a peaceful ambiance.

The hotel supports several friendly and interesting activities for children. They have an outbound park, pizza cooking class, painting class, nail polish and tattoo art, and treehouse. The great hospitality of the staff is one of the highlights of the hotel.
