The 32-meter long SMY Ondina is a beautifully designed pinisi schooner built from tropical hardwood. The Ondina plies the route between the ports of Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores and Bima on Sumbawa. It’s a picturesque route offering plenty of opportunity for sightseeing as well as diving among the islands of the Komodo National Park. The average length of a cruise on the SMY Ondina is between 6-7 days.

The crew of the SMY Ondina caters to an international clientele. Staff can speak English, French, Spanish and Indonesian. Trained instructors manage the dives and there’s a local chef who prepares buffet meals on board ship. Boat Information and Safety Features

The Ondina was built in 2000 and renovated in 2013. She is 32 meters long with a top speed of 9 knots. The boat is powered by one MAN 400 hp engine. The Ondina has one tender powered by two 400 hp Yamaha engines, which is used for the dives and visits to islands. She is outfitted with modern safety and navigation features including radar, depth sounder, GPS and emergency rafts.

The Ondina has 8 air conditioned cabins ensuite bathroom. There are 8 cabins in all and the vessel can accommodate up to 16 guests. The crew includes trained chef and kitchen staff and dive instructors. They have first aid training and staff can speak English, French, Spanish and Indonesian.

The route between Labuan Bajo and Bima offers plenty of opportunity for world class diving (as well as snorkelling) among the coral reefs of the Flores Sea. The 7 nigh cruises offer around 20 dives and the 10 night trips offer around 27 dives. Diving equipment can be rented onboard ship. Nitrox is available for advanced divers. Keep in mind that you need to have Advanced Open Water Certification for some dive sites.
