It left me quite surprised to know that one of my blog readers decided to stay in Kuta for three days during their first visit to Bali. They knew that Kuta is one of the busiest areas in Bali and though I suggested they stay around Ubud, because they love organic and raw food, they still chose Kuta anyway. They said that they were more comfortable to stay near the airport! Ah right, some people just have their own preference and that is completely fine.

Kuta is one of the districts in Badung regency, Bali. If you are thinking about staying near the airport, but prefer a quieter area, pick the north part of Kuta. Seminyak is a great choice. Beaches around Seminyak are not as busy as Kuta beach. There are plenty of beautiful private villas tucked away in the alleys of Seminyak that provide a peaceful night sleep. A great alternative to the center of Kuta. Besides that there are also a lot of restaurants and stores that are worth checking, which are only 5-10 minutes away from where you stay. Below is one of the villas I reviewed in Seminyak.

Kunti Villas Seminyak

Kunti villas is perfectly situated at Jl. Kunti II Seminyak. The villas are easy to find, but are not located on a busy road. Like many other Seminyak villas, Kunti Villas, guarantees you a quite night sleep.

The villas offer two types of accommodations; a one bedroom villa with a private pool and a two bedroom villa with a private pool. I stayed at the two bedroom villa. The villa is spacious and has a decent swimming pool (you know sometimes a villa’s swimming pool can be very tiny).

Both of the rooms in the villa have the same modern design and setting. The room and also the bath room were very spacious (btw I personally love the bath tub).

One of the best things about waking up at Kunti Villas is the huge breakfast that awaits you in the morning. I had an American Breakfast and I struggled to finish the portion (but I enjoyed every bite).

Staying at Kunti Villas allowed me to explore the Seminyak and Oberoi street. Here are more suggestions of things to do while you are staying around Seminyak.

Visit the beaches

If you are staying around Seminyak area, there are at least three beaches that you can visit easily: Legian beach, Seminyak beach and Petitenget beach. They are next to each other. The beaches are a great place to take a stroll or a morning jog (or even an evening jog).

The sunsets along the beaches are especially memorable. There are plenty of nice cafes / restaurants by the beach with bean bags for you to enjoy the sun set.

Don’t miss…

Staying around Seminyak gives you easy peasy access to plenty of nice restaurants and stores. You can walk, cycle or drive a scooter around the area and find anything you want nearby.

My favourite way of exploring Seminyak is simply walking around. I find I pay a lot more attention to my surroundings. Another good thing about walking is that I can avoid the jammed streets (though it does get very hot during the heat of the day, so an air conditioned cab is a nice alternative).

Besides Seminyak, Legian, Kerobokan and Petitenget are also worth exploring! These are two of my favourite places to stop by when I visited Seminyak.

Jewel Rocks (Jl. Petitenget 1A, North Kuta)
If you are a big accessories fan, like me, you should definitely visit JewelRocks flagship store. I can say that they are indeed an expensive jewelry, but they are so lovely and each piece of jewellery has it own story! Besides accessories, they also sell plenty of beautiful fabric from Indonesian and around the world. Please don’t blame me if you end up spending a lot of time at this store!

Tart Au Citron and Eclair of Angelita Tea Salon

Angelita Tea Salon and Patisserie (Jl. Raya Kerobokan, North Kuta)
DebbZie Leksono of debbzie.com, the one that Mumun of Indohoy and I trust when it comes to food around Bali, said that Angelita Tea Salon is one of the best pastry shops in Bali. She didn’t lie! You should try their Coffee Eclair and Tart Au Citron.

See! There is nothing really wrong by staying around Kuta area, right? Staying at the most touristy place in Bali won’t do you any harm as long as you focus on exploring interesting stuff around the area! I still prefer Seminyak though 🙂

Disclaimer: I was invited by Kunti Villas as their guest, but as always this article is completely my own opinion.

If you are interested in booking Kunti Villas I recommend Agoda for its low price and discounts.
