Hotel Vila Lumbung is a five star luxury resort located in the Seminyak area of Bali. It’s an all inclusive resort with beautiful rooms, private villas chill out areas and a swimming pool. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and modern. Hotel Vila Lumbung is notable for the hospitality of its staff and the quality of the food served at the resort restaurant. Sheltered away from the busy streets, this is a great place for a family holiday or for couples.
Everything you need can be found at the resort. Hotel Vila Lumbung is just small enough that it never feels too busy, but there are plenty of opportunities to meet fellow travellers (the swimming pool bar gets busy in the evening). When you decide to leave the resort you will discover the Hotel Vila Lumbung is conveniently located near the bars and restaurants of trendy Seminyak. You can also visit the most popular tourist destinations in Bali on a day trip from the resort. Read below for a full review of the rooms, the facilities, the restaurant and my impression of this resort.
Hotel Vila Lumbung has several types of room; Superior room located in three building surrounded by beautiful landscape of garden which why the hotel receives the award as BALI LEADING GREEN HOTEL 2015 by Bali Tourism Award (BTA). Then the Deluxe Lumbung up-stair, Deluxe Lumbung down-stair, Deluxe Family Lumbung (fully equipped with kitchenette) and the 3-bedroom Deluxe Villa.
I stayed at one of the Deluxe up-stair Lumbungs. These Lumbung Huts where all the Deluxe located are built separately from the Superior. In fact, those Lumbung Huts are the original and authentic accommodation which offered by Hotel Vila Lumbung since its first opened. The Deluxe Lumbung has a very different style of in-room experience with Superior, but both located in tranquil and nature garden area.
The first thing I noticed when I entered the Lumbung was the architecture of the roof, which was really eye-catching (it was made from wooden beams that had been bent and joined together). Immediately in front of me as I walked up the stairs was a daybed surrounded on three sides by windows. It quickly became my favorite part of the room.
The rest of the room felt really spacious and airy. Part of the effect is the result of the decoration. The room is painted in warm colors and with the natural wood gives it a relaxed homey feeling. I also loved the placement of the closets, which were very accessible, highly functional and yet looked pretty and ‘hidden’. The room has a super comfortable bed and also a spacious bathroom (love all the mirrors!).
There is one restaurant at Vila Lumbung and it serves food all day. The restaurant is next to the big swimming pool and attached to the mini bar. Breakfast is served every day between 7-10 am and there is a large buffet. My favorite food was fresh pancake from the crepe station. You can also order omelets from the egg station, make a salad or create your own sandwich from the fresh ingredients. The coffee is also really tasty.
For lunch you can order a set dish from the menu. There’s a large selection of food available and all of the dishes I tried were delicious (and well priced). My favorite dishes were the grilled oxtail and the three-layered chocolate cake.
Every other evening at Vila Lumbung there is a themed meal at the restaurant. When I was there I joined the BBQ and had freshly cooked fish. There was a live band playing during the BBQ, which gave the restaurant a nice atmosphere. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and one group was singing by the pool.
Guess what? I was staying at the resort for 2 nights and I didn’t even go out of the resort. Everything that you could need is right there for you in the resort. There was an amazing two level swimming pool, a whirlpool, the Spa & Beauty center (Demada Spa, I had a nice facial during my stay), a beautiful garden, kids playground and a small gym. They also have a pool table at the restaurant close to the Mini Bar (the mini bar was also attached to the swimming pool).
The bar by the swimming pool got really busy in the late afternoon. It’s a popular place to chill out, have a chitchat with your travel mate or even with the other guests.
Hotel Vila Lumbung was notable for the hospitality of the staff. As soon as I arrived at the lobby the receptionist greeted me with a smile and offered me a towel and welcome drink. The towel was a nice way to cool down in hot Bali and the welcome drink was refreshing. The staff at Hotel Vila Lumbung were always tried to make sure that the guests were enjoying their stay at the resort. It was an example of true Balinese hospitality that lasted until the moment I checked out the resort.
Hotel Vila Lumbung is a perfect resort for families and couples. The resort facilities will definitely spoil you. When I was there we had so much fun playing around in the swimming pool. We even tried the water basketball. The room, especially the daybed area, was a really great place to relax. The only problem was it was so nice that I didn’t ever leave the resort, but that’s not really such a big problem. Sometimes a relaxing holiday is just what you need.
